FAQ

Professional Visit Pass: frequently asked questions

How long can I stay on a Professional Visit Pass?
Up to 12 months, or the period applied for if that's shorter. Under MIDA's guidelines, the pass can't be extended.
Can a PVP holder be paid by the Malaysian company?
No. The holder stays employed and paid by their overseas company. If the Malaysian company will employ and pay them, an Employment Pass is the right option.
Can my family come with me on a PVP?
No. PVP holders can't apply for Dependent Passes for their family.
Who submits the application?
The Malaysian company sponsoring the visit submits it, before the visitor travels. Depending on the sector, it goes through MIDA's system or through ESD.
How long does approval take?
MIDA aims to process complete applications within 15 working days. The JTK approval and document preparation also need time, so it's best to start early.
How much does a PVP cost?
For companies applying through MIDA, the official guidelines list a MIDA fee of RM1,200 per application plus Immigration pass and visa fees. Fees through ESD differ, so we'll confirm the costs for your case.
